TaeKwon-Do
is the scientific use of the body for self defence
As
a martial art it has no equal
As
an art it is graceful yet very powerful
As
a sport it is dynamic, exciting and fun
What
is TaeKwon-Do?
TaeKwon-Do
is a Korean martial art, originally founded by General Choi Hong Hi
(1918-2002).
In
Korean, tae
means "to strike or break with foot", kwon
means "to strike or break with fist", and do
means "way" or "method". Therefore "TaeKwon-Do" is loosely translated as
"the
way of the foot and fist"
or "the
method of kicking and punching".
TaeKwon-Do's
popularity has resulted in the varied development of the martial art into
several domains. As with many other martial arts, it combines combat techniques,
self-defense, sport, exercise, meditation and philosophy. TaeKwon-Do is also
used by the South Korean military as part of its training and has become the
national sport of South
Korea.

organisations.
What
can we do for you?
We
can offer more than any other martial arts group within the UK; from
internationally recognised degrees, instructor and examiner qualifications,
access
to national and international competitions.
We
aim to improve your fitness, flexibility, co-ordination and self
confidence.
TaeKwon-Do
is for all ages; male and female.
It
is a well-known fact that children who acquire self-confidence at an early age
are far more likely to succeed in achieving their childhood ambitions as they
grow into adulthood. Our classes for children are taught under the supervision
of highly-skilled, experienced and fully qualified instructors who are
registered with the British TaeKwon-Do Council
(B.T.C). We encourage each child to achieve his or her potential; learning
new skills and making new friends along the way.
Our
adult classes consist of structured training programs that can be tailored to
the needs of each individual student and aim to improve physical fitness, boost
self-confidence, and provide students with the knowledge and skills required for
self protection.
