The ITF World Taekwon-Do Championships held between 4th & 10th July in Cheong-Ju, South Korea was certainly an event to remember. Not only was it the first time that the World’s had included veteran divisions, or that WTF style combatants competed along side our very own ITF Taekwon-do but it was only the second time that the ITF Worlds had been held in South Korea and the first time that the ITF had ever been televised within South Korea.
A stunning opening ceremony commenced on 3rd of July and included wonderful displays of breaking, dancing, Moosin fighters and Taekyon. Approximately 51 countries where represented at opening ceremony with 48 going on to compete during the Championships.
The Scottish National Teams included a combination of students from Imperial & Ultimate Taekwon-Do who were selected over a six month training period. The successful individuals who formed part of the senior male team where;
Alan McLeish (1st degree), Andrew Miller(2nd degree), Peter Scott (3rd degree), Nik Purves (4th degree), Douglas Chalmers( 2nd degree), Gavin Robertson (2nd degree) Desmond Harkin(1st degree)

The following Imperial Students who took part and there medals positions:
Connor McLay - 3 bronze & 2 silvers, Christopher McCrory - 4 bronze & 1 silver, Brad Robertson - 3 bronze & 1 silver, Karla McLay, Peter Scott - 1 bronze, Gavin Robertson - 1 bronze, Desmond Harkin - 1bronze.
